Facilitator's Creative Incubator Revisited:

Developing Creative Solutions to Facilitation, Training and Development

Nov 8th, 2013 11:30-1:10

la Villa Restaurant at Philbrook Museum of Arts

In September, we provided an overview of the current state of organizational creativity research and how to enhance creative potential. The Nov workshop will briefly review Sept's presentaion content before focusing on the role of facilitators in helping generate original and useful solutions to workplace challenges. Workshop participants will be asked to share their challenges regarding creativity in facilitation, training, and development, and we will work together to find solutions to these challenges by applying creative problem solving processes.

About the Presenters:

Dr. Brigitte Steinheider is an Associate Professor in the Organizational Dynamics graduate program at the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa. The program offers an innovative approach to education that links the latest management theory and practice with students’ real life work situations in an adult-learning format. The team-based format fosters creativity and innovation, and graduates of the program possess the leadership skills needed to manage people, projects, and processes. Dr. Steinheider was hired to implement the program in 2002, served as Graduate Liaison from 2003 to 2010, and as its director from 2005 to 2010. Brigitte Steinheider received her MS in Psychology in 1990 from the Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf, her MBA in 1992 from the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, and her Ph.D. from the Technical University of Dresden in 1996.

Lori Frederick is a former graduate from the Organizational Dynamics program at the University of Oklahoma - Tulsa. She received her Bachelor degree in Aviation from Eastern Kentucky University in her home state. In 2002, after graduation, Lori moved from Kentucky to Oklahoma to work for American Airlines. She held several positions there including many years as the Senior Project Manager for the 737 fleet. During her career with the airline, Lori became very passionate about continuous improvement and management through teamwork. She came to the ODYN program in order to continue her education in this area and graduated as one of the first 30 students to complete the program in 2007. In 2012, Lori had the opportunity to change careers and take on the role as Quality Assurance Manager for an international hydraulic pump manufacturer, Ruhrpumpen. Her focus in this position is on team building and continuous improvements. Lori has recently completed training with the Adizes Institute and has been certified as an in company facilitator under this methodology.

Lori Frederick also has a passion for helping others. At a young age her son was diagnosed with Autism. After several years of research and therapy, Lori and her family were able to attend training and develop a team of volunteers that helped her son recover. She knew that many families in the Midwest do not have the same opportunities and it lead to her team starting a no- profit that could train and give play therapy solutions to children in need. Lori spends her available time speaking at universities, clinics, and other early education programs to teach about autism awareness and to raise money to help those affected. It is her goal to one day be able to have the support to open a facility in the Tulsa area where more families can be served.
